The evolution of Destinate NZ

Updated: Aug 26, 2020

For a while now, I have been contemplating a brave new world. A world that was created entirely by me. A world and a life that really brought happiness not only to my family and I, but also to others. I knew that I had something to give and I just needed to figure out what that was, and how it could be realised.

I resigned from my job in October 2014, thinking I would take some much needed time out to clear my head and really think about what I could do next. It was a brave, some say stupid, thing to do. I mean who gives up a great job that pays and rewards you well ... to do nothing?

During my time off, opportunities have been presented to me. It's certainly flattering to have recruitment consultants call you about positions which have become available. But I needed to be honest with myself - what was it that was going to satisfy this desire within me to really help grow our tourism industry, and at the same time, work with smart and passionate business owners who struggle with the sales and marketing function in their business?

After some discussions with industry colleagues, friends, mentors and family, Destinate NZ was born - on Friday 13th March, 2015. Quite an auspicious date, but fortunately I am not superstitious!

Destinate NZ is built on the foundations of 6 important principles.

  1. Knowledge and Ideas

  2. Passion

  3. Collaboration

  4. Happiness

  5. Results

  6. Continuous Improvement

Over the next few blog posts, I will go into each of these in more detail so you understand a little more about the network we have created to help business owners and managers take the next step to achieving greater results.
