Celebrating our Tourism Heroes

If you haven't caught up on our podcast lately, you're definitely missing out! ;)

We're currently running a series celebrating all of the NZ Tourism Awards Finalists for 2021. Due to Covid, the awards night was postponed (what hasn't been lately?) until late November so that gave us the perfect opportunity to bring you interviews with all of the finalists before the awards ceremony! Why not play a little game and let us know who you think will win based on the interviews?

Now, we're in no way affiliated with the NZ Tourism Awards - I did put it out there that I wouldn't mind being a judge next year, but this year I am content to just interview the finalists for the podcast instead!

The podcast did take an extended break for a while but we relaunched again a few weeks ago and have already met and chatted with some amazing people who live and breathe tourism (just like us). This industry really is infectious and I reckon the podcast is a great listen on any day, but especially if you're feeling a bit flat and need a pick me up. It's hard not to smile as you listen to these incredible stories about resilience, innovation, community engagement, conservation, and much more. Not to mention the individual award finalists in the Tourism Industry Champion and Emerging Leader categories.

We're also running regular competitions including one where you choose your favourite podcast episode - easy right? So don't forget to check out our competitions page and start entering!

Part One of the Tourism Awards specials featured Eve Lawrence, GM at Haka Tourism Group and a finalist in the Emerging Tourism Leader and Heidi Farren & Nigel Hobbs from Altitude Tours who are finalists in the Visitor Experience Award.

Part Two featured Loren Heaphy, GM Destination and Attraction at ChristchurchNZ and a finalist in the Emerging Tourism Leader category; Dr Arthur Chin from NZ Nature Highlights who is a finalist in the Visitor Experience Award and Jolanda Cave from Dart River Adventures, also finalists in the Visitor Experience Award.

Part Three featured Nicole Botting, Maverick Digital and finalist in the Emerging Tourism Leader Award; Jared Simcox from the Dark Sky Project and finalist in the Maori Tourism Award, and Emma Bean from The National Kiwi Hatchery who are finalists in the Conservation Award.

This week we feature Matt Stenton from Go With Tourism who is a finalist in the Tourism Industry Champion Award and Jeroen Jungejans from Dive! Tutukaka who are finalists in the Resilience and Innovation Award. It's live now wherever you listen to your favourite podcasts. Or click on your preferred platform here. Don't forget to subscribe, and also leave a 5-star review! Oh, and share it with your mates and all over your socials too :) We'll be forever grateful!

This isn't the end of our NZ Tourism Awards feature though, we'll more than likely be running episodes right through until 24th November just before the Awards Night as we aim to interview every finalist (there are 29 finalists!), so please keep listening in.
